SHAPING DIVERSITY - HOW TO MAKE DE&I EVENTS MORE IMPACTFUL GLOBALLY
Diversity is no longer a “nice to have” - it's a key driver of successful events.
When events are designed to highlight diverse perspectives and consciously embrace cultural differences, they foster real connection - with relevance and impact.
Why invest in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I)? Because it not only strengthens the sense of belonging, but also fuels innovation, creativity, and team dynamics. When people feel seen, respected, and included, the quality of interaction improves - and with it, the overall success of the event.
At VOK DAMS, diversity isn’t just a buzzword - it’s part of our everyday reality.
With offices across continents and a truly international team, we bring together a wide range of experiences and perspectives that shape everything we do. But it doesn’t stop there: we live diversity from the inside out. Our company culture is built on inclusion and participation - and that influences how we think, plan, and create. We know that communication only resonates when people genuinely feel addressed. And events only make an impact when they’re open and accessible to everyone.
DIVERSITY STARTS WITHIN – AND DOESN’T STOP THERE
For us, diversity doesn’t start with a project - it shapes how we work every day.
It’s part of how we collaborate as a team, how we partner with clients, vendors, and service providers.
Inclusive events don’t happen by chance - they’re built on openness, curiosity, and clear processes. Our internal DE&I guide captures what we’ve learned and keeps evolving with every event. What worked well? Where is more attention needed? The answers flow straight into the next planning phase.
It’s not about making everyone the same - it’s about making differences visible and valuing them. True inclusion means breaking down barriers - structural, linguistic, or social – and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.
HOW WE PUT DIVERSITY INTO PRACTICE
Our approach is holistic. Communication, programming, venue, catering – every element works together to create an inclusive experience.
COMMUNICATION
We keep language simple and inclusive. Right from registration, we ask about special needs - whether it’s interpreting services, mobility support, or allergies. Videos get subtitles, info materials are accessible, and name badges include pronouns. Plus, a clear code of conduct sets the tone.
Program
We plan with real life in mind: religious holidays, school vacations, balancing work and family. Our speakers and topics represent a broad range of voices and experiences. Hybrid formats open more doors, and we double-check content to avoid accidentally excluding anyone.
Eventlocation
The location has to be accessible to everyone - wheelchair-friendly routes, elevators, plenty of seating, slip-resistant floors, clear signage. We also think about sound cues, marked steps, and gender-neutral restrooms. Every detail counts.
Catering
We make sure dietary diversity is covered and clearly labeled - whether halal, kosher, vegan, gluten-free, or lactose-free. An inclusive event also means offering a wide variety of drinks and providing water stations throughout the venue.
Event EvaluATION
At VOK DAMS, event evaluation is key to improving inclusivity. After each event, we gather feedback and take a close look: Who attended? Who didn’t? What worked? What was missing? These insights feed directly into our ongoing development - step by step.

TO SUM IT UP
Inclusive events don’t rely on routine - they rely on intentional design. DE&I isn’t about uniformity, but about embracing difference. It’s about building bridges - between people, perspectives, and experiences.
Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to inclusion aren’t contradictions - they’re the key to creating events that connect, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.
