AI between hype and attitude – the Big Bang AI Festival
When Europe's largest AI festival opens its doors, a spirit of optimism meets reality. Two days of Big Bang AI Festival in Berlin. That meant concentrated knowledge, new perspectives, and for me, the opportunity to review our location. The festival was also an exciting opportunity for me to sharpen my perspective as a marketing and AI expert at VOK DAMS. In my role, I combine strategic thinking with innovative strength and use artificial intelligence in both customer projects and our internal processes to enhance ideas, creativity, and impact. I am particularly interested in the question of how we can integrate technologies in such a way that they create real added value for brands, teams, and people.
So where do we stand in the discourse surrounding artificial intelligence? And where might there be blind spots? After the first few sessions, it became clear that we are up to date when it comes to tools and applications. What was presented on stage is part of our everyday work. Whether text, image, video, or project management—the programs are familiar, tried and tested, and part of our daily processes. Accordingly, it was reassuring to see how strong we are as an agency. The reactions in the audience, which ranged from astonishment to aha moments, reinforced this impression. What is still the future for many is already a reality at VOK DAMS.
THE REAL EXPLOSIVE POWER LIES ELSEWHERE
The Big Bang AI Festival also demonstrated that AI is not an isolated phenomenon affecting individual industries, but rather a huge wave that permeates almost all areas of our lives. Anyone who works in the digital sphere will sooner or later come into contact with AI. That is where its real explosive power lies. It is not just about efficiency and effectiveness, but about a new, collective way of thinking that is fundamentally changing our working world. I was particularly impressed by a figure from one of the keynote speeches: more than 90% of companies are already working with AI today, but only 5% are successful in doing so. The difference, therefore, does not lie in access to the technologies, because they are available to everyone. Rather, the figure shows that success requires a clear strategy, appropriate structures, and a culture that involves people. Companies that simply “apply” AI remain on the surface. Companies that consciously integrate AI, on the other hand, are shaping the future. This is exactly the path we are taking: we create space for exchange, actively involve employees, and use AI in a targeted manner to enhance ideas, creativity, and impact.
A UNIQUE FIELD OF INNOVATION
The festival also demonstrated how AI is changing the rules of the game in the agency world. Size alone is no longer a competitive advantage. This is especially true for traditional creative agencies. In the past, it was large agencies with manpower and resources that set the standards. Today, small teams equipped with good ideas and a lot of creativity can implement projects that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. AI lowers the barriers to entry, increases opportunities, and thus shifts the balance of power in the industry. A striking example of this is the development of the digital camera. It is no longer the most expensive technology that determines quality, but the ability to use it correctly. And I took another insight away with me from Berlin: AI is not a stand-alone technology. It unleashes its full power in combination with other technologies – be it the metaverse, robotics, or the Internet of Things. This ecosystem opens up a field of innovation that is unique in its dynamism. It is precisely the combination of different technologies that creates opportunities that go far beyond individual use cases. Those who start designing these interfaces today are positioning themselves for the future.
The Big Bang AI Festival sharpened my perspective. The key point is to consider how to embed AI in strategy, teamwork, and culture. AI does not replace people, but rather complements them. It is not an end in itself, but rather a layer that enhances creativity, ideas, and impact. This is precisely the path we are taking—consciously, systematically, and with the goal of translating the potential of AI into real, sustainable, and unique results.
