A Creative Surprise for YOUR Ears

In the dynamic world of live communication at VOK DAMS, creative approaches and forward-looking ideas emerge every day - often extending far beyond current project work. To make this valuable pool of knowledge - the creative “bycatch” of our daily work - visible and usable, our Chief Creative Officer Christopher Werth has launched a new format: the podcast Make My Monday. Producer Jan Filipzik spoke with him about why the podcast is more than just an audio format and how it helps sharpen our focus on what truly matters.

Christopher, anyone who knows you is aware that you are constantly energized by new trends and creative impulses. Was launching your own podcast the logical next step?
Christopher: Absolutely. At VOK DAMS, we invest a great deal of energy in finding ways to bring our creative substance more strongly into the spotlight. Personally, I love channels that create space for deeper reflection beyond classic project work. I used to write a lot, and the podcast offers a completely different sense of immediacy. We have so much expertise and so many fascinating processes here that deserve to be heard. It’s about making our spirit tangible.

A new episode every week sounds like a high demand on self-discipline. What motivates you to maintain this rhythm?
It’s an activating challenge. The beauty lies in the freedom of the format: we curate topics that truly matter. That makes it authentic. When you engage with subjects that genuinely fascinate you, production doesn’t feel like work—it becomes a creative outlet. It’s passion for the topic that guarantees the weekly output.

How would you describe the concept of the podcast? What can listeners expect every Monday?
Christopher: I like to call it a “surprise egg for the ears.” You never quite know which nuance of creativity we’ll explore on a Monday. Sometimes it’s a deep dive into pop culture, sometimes an analysis of a major show like the Super Bowl, or a very concrete recommendation for a film or piece of music that opens up new ways of thinking. We deliver small, highly concentrated inspiration nuggets. The target audience is anyone who wants to make an impact and is eager for fresh impulses.

You work without rigid scripts and speak very freely. How do you ensure that the message still lands precisely?
Christopher: The medium is storytelling, not reading aloud. I prepare a precise framework of notes, but the magic happens through association. Because I immerse myself very deeply in topics both professionally and personally, I can draw on a broad reservoir of experience. It’s about connecting things—creating links that may not be obvious at first glance. If listeners experience an “aha moment” or gain a completely new perspective on a familiar topic, then I’ve achieved my goal.

Podcast (1)

In one of your episodes, you explored “Groundhog Day.” A great example of how you place everyday topics into a creative context, right?
Exactly—that’s the point. Groundhog Day on February 2nd was the perfect hook to reflect on routine and repetition in creativity. When you take a closer look at the story behind the cult film, you realize just how much substance it contains. These kinds of discoveries are the “bycatch” of our daily research work at VOK DAMS. We observe the world with open eyes and share these insights.

Creativity is our core business. But what advice do you give clients or colleagues when the creative engine starts to sputter?
Taking the pressure off is often the first step. When things get stuck, it can help to temporarily focus on very mundane, structured tasks—they help reorganize your thoughts. But my most important advice is: just start. Inspiration often comes through action. At VOK DAMS, we see ourselves as creative consultants. That also means we know how to steer creative processes and deliver excellent results even under intense pressure. The podcast is meant to reflect exactly that: our ability not only to spot trends, but to interpret them confidently for brands.

What is the long-term vision for this format?
We want to show that VOK DAMS operates right at the pulse of the times. We are thought leaders and idea generators. The podcast is an invitation to our clients and partners to share in our enthusiasm for innovation and aesthetics. It’s about thinking ahead together and continuously redefining the boundaries of what’s possible.
