As part of the German Sustainable Event Agencies Network, we publish our manifesto for sustainable practices in the event industry. After a year and a half of collaborative work, we are incredibly proud of this achievement. The manifesto represents a collective effort from our industry toward a more sustainable future. We are launching the network with 30 nationally and internationally active event agencies.

By participating in this initiative, we at VOK DAMS commit to embedding the principles of the sustainability manifesto into our own operations. The document outlines a shared commitment and concrete measures that we, along with all signatories, aim to implement by the end of 2025. These include introducing sustainability management, transparent greenhouse gas accounting (Scope 1-3), and making procurement practices more sustainable. Additionally, we pledge to actively advise clients on integrating sustainability throughout the entire event value chain. Beyond our commitment to transparency, we regularly exchange best practices within the network to guide the industry and provide inspiration for long-term sustainable action.

USING EVENTS TO CREATE POSITIVE IMPACT

This manifesto is a key step in using events as platforms for sustainable change. The primary focus areas include mobility, energy, circular economy, and catering. The goal is not only to reduce negative impacts but also to create positive social and environmental outcomes. The manifesto sends a strong message to the industry: we will continuously update it to reflect new insights and developments. This adaptability underscores our commitment to learning together, aligning our content with the urgency of scientific findings, and collaboratively driving innovation beyond competitive boundaries. 

As a first step, we invite all event agencies to join this commitment and actively shape the transformation toward a responsible and future-proof industry. After all, the most sustainable event is not the one that doesn’t take place – it’s the one that generates the most positive impact.
